Turnip – 2 nos.
Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Chilli powder – 1.5 teaspoon
Salt – as desired
Oil – 1 tablespoon
Mustard seeds (kadugu) – 1/2 teaspoon
Red chillies (kanja molaga) – 1 no.
Asafoetida (perungayam) – a pinch
Curry leaves (karuvepillai) – 1 sprig
Note. The ingredients shown will vary with the original quantity.
1. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Then, add asafoetida and curry leaves. Add turnip pieces and red chillies. Fry for 2 minutes.
2. Then add turmeric powder, chilli powder, and salt. Sprinkle little water. Cook turnip for 5 to 7 minutes or until the turnip is cooked.
Now, Turnip Poriyal (Turnip Stir-Fry) is ready!
